hmmm... the best anime I've ever seen.... well it has to be a movie since the art quality is so much higher than in series'. I'd say either Spirited Away or Millenium Actress. Metropolis would make it but the writing feels like there's a giant hole in the middle of the story. Remeber, there's a huge difference between favorite and best, both are still just opinions tho ;)
