I know we wanted L and Light to live but think: IF they stayed alive, would you have appreciated and respected the anime as much? the whole idea of juxtaposing sacrifice and death was a brilliant idea that the creators came up with. if we were to let light live, would you see his real character, understand the underlying themes based on Light & L's deaths? The answer is obviously no. Every Character's death were Key in the anime and to take away from that aspect is like taking away the cross from the Christians: you just cant do that!

yah- if light didnt die, then it the show wouldnt of ended- everyone would say the ending sucked, because everyone would be pissed that the show got nowhere, like one of those stupid fake romance anime's that something big happens in the end, yet they are nowhere closer to being together- you know what i mean?

not exactly. It could of ended with light being the more dominant. If he were to kill every single person who retaliated against him. Having everyone to be limited to do any crimes.

to itzonlypeter, Read my post. How could you possibly say, after surely agreeing with that, HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT LIGHT SHOULD KILL EVERY ONE!!!!!!!!!! holy crap, that makes 0 sence. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CRIME SO LONG AS THERE IS FREEDOM OF THOUGHT. you are proposing to ruin the whole story line, desecrate the amazing metaphores and turn that amzing anime into an iconoclast? that is soo ignorant and you need a reality check. Sure animes are not real but inorder for people to want to watch them, they need to have a human element. your ideas are pain and flawless bullshit.

sorry peter but i have to agree with topsungbong. If light had killed everyone then there would be almost not story behind the series but to answer your question laim09 i was also cheering with Light and wanted him to live but in the back of my head i kind of had a feeling that he wouldn't =(

In the end I wanted Light to win because Near sucks ass....big time. seriously I hate that little cowardly bitch. but then again Light kinda had to die and we alll knew it was going to end like that. and actually I don't mind that either...but why did he have to die such a miserable and totally humiliating death? >_< Whether you liked him or not you have to give him credit for being a badass throughout most of the show. okay he made some very silly mistakes, but heck he actually managed to kill L (not that I liked that but it was pretty amazing). a better ending would've been with Light being exposed as Kira but keeping his cool, saying something like "yes, I'm kira and looks like I lost....but in the end I was right with what I did and you all know it, and you'll regret what you've just done" and then dying with some dignity, not crying and begging for his life >_<
