- Description
- "Condo Joe" Bryson, who started Austin's legendary Inner Sanctum Records, threw a 40th Anniversary party at 501 Studios, Austin, TX on the afternoon and evening of Sunday, August 15, 2010. In 1970, college student and entrepreneur Joe Bryson bought Phil's Record Store at W. 24th and Rio Grande Streets, and renamed it Inner Sanctum Records, after the 1940s radio show. The store relocated to a large, old house at 504 W. 24th Street, just off "The Drag" (Guadalupe St.), near the University of Texas at Austin. Bryson relied on fellow music mavens to keep the business running. James "Cowboy" Cooper, Gary Barnes, "Big Al" Ragle, Richard Dorsett, Rick Moore, Kirby McDaniel and Linda Nozik all worked at Inner Sanctum.
