Bamboo Blade at least had really good music but wow this show was so boring and cliche-ridden. It was a like a cocktease, always promising to get good then never did. I also hated Michiko no Hatchin for the same reasons. Lastly, Cat Soup; and every Miyazaki film, except Kiki's, but especially Spirited Away. Its worse how everyone orgasms at the mere mention of Miyazaki or any of his overrated films!
I like Spirited Away.. I refuse to buy into the 'anything touched by Miyazaki is gold' train that so many do but some of his stuff, like Princess Mononoke, is really good. For hate, Shadow Skill. Poor storytelling but it was the fight scenes I couldn't stand. Also Armitage III Dual-matrix and Ghost in the Shell: Inocence for just being poorly written sequels that take away from the original and Samurai Showdown the Movie for any reason you can think of, it's awful on every level
Most anime movies are kind of poorish, like the Cowboy Bebop and Yuyu Hakusho one. It seems like they always bust out the "Vacationing Superpower" cliche where a previously unknown insanely powerful group or enemy, or even another world, conveniently appears, but had they appeared earlier the REAL show would have been completely different. This cliche also permeates filler. Some anime movies are excellent and compliment the series, as Rurouni Kenshin or Sailor Moon: Hearts in Ice.
that's because most movies attached to series are filler. They want to cash in on popularity but need to write a story that won't have any impact on the series so not to put off viewers who don't see it. That's why movies without an attached series like Akira or Princess Mononoke are usually better.
Sometimes movies take a completely different direction from the series and turn out good like Patlabor or Tenchi the Movie. It's so funny when someone finds the Patlabor series after seeing the movie and finds out it's a comedy series ;)
Hey, I happen to love some of Miyzaki's films, Whisper of the Heart is a good one, artistic wise, and a good plot, kiki's delivery service is good, and so is Howl's moving castle, and my pal/neibour tottoro is fun too, as is Porko Rooso, however I don't like the grave of the fireflies left me crying my eyes out, it really upset me, as did tales of earth/sea.
What animes do you hate
