- Description
- January 4, 2002 I filmed the Hawaiian slack-key guitar group Ho'omanalo, who performed at the Food Court of the International Market Place on Kalakua Ave. in Waikiki, and you will also see one of Hawaii's finest hula dancers. Ki ho'alu, which literally means "loosen the (tuning) key,"is the Hawaiian name for the solo finger picked style unique to the only music indigenous to Hawaii. Many slack-key songs reflect themes in the past & present lives of people. Hearing this group led me to become interested in the acoustic sound of slack-key.
