- Description
- Scientist search for the origins of life and fail because they do not realize that even the simplest forms of life that exists today are far more complex than the first, primitive forms of life. For example, the first forms of life were devoid of DNA and RNA because these molecules are too frail to survive on the primordial earth without the protection of very complex biological membranes. Before life, there was no oxygen or ozone layer in Earth's atmosphere. Instead, Earth's non-oxygen, or "reducing" atmosphere likely held water vapor, hydrogen from evaporating water, small amounts of ammonia and methane, lots of deadly ultraviolet radiation and lightnings. About half a century ago it was known that lightnings could make amino acids (the building blocks of all life) in the primordial ooze and that fatty acids could make the first cell walls. Little if any progress was made after these discoveries. resolution: 1280x720 pixels
