July 28 2009 Lake County Illinois, 6:28am. Wind WSW 7mph. 67 degrees. Partly Cloudy, 40% Chance of Thunderstorm Barometer 29.79 Steady,Waxing Crescent, 45% of the Moon is Illuminated. Big Whitetail Bucks in velvet up close. Branches and trees littered the ground from the storm the previous night. As I still hunted along a creek, glassing out into the swamp for antlers moving through the Cattails and Reedgrass, the flash of velvet antlers moving North through the tall grasses grabbed my attention. As the big 10 point Whitetail Buck crossed paths with me, I could see it was the beautiful deer that I now call Buddy. Buddy was not able to confirm it was me because I was not upwind of him, But I am sure he had a pretty good idea from my voice and the HawgNSons Unlimited True Timber Camouflage Cap that he has seen me wear many times in the field. As friendly as Buddy is to me, he didn't want to stick around to long without my scent confirmation. Buddy looks like his antler development is just about complete for this year.....Captured ONLY on www.HawgNSonsTV.Com ........................................................................... After further review...It looks as if Buddy DID scent check me. Watch as he walks down the trail and at running time :28 Buddy is ENE of me....he gets my scent and he gives me a little extra time and one last look to check ME out.
