Shikamaru isn't a better ninja than hidan. cause for one thing, if shikamaru fought hidan the first time without knowing anything about hidan he would have gotten owned bad. And shikamaru should have ran out of chakra earlier in the battle. the creater of the series extended his chakra in that battle just so hidan would lose.
