This service is designed to allow for the publication of new content generated by the user. The only real mistake I think that you made was to think of this site as a quasi VCR. As far as plagerism not being a big deal, imagine this scenario. You imagine a story line and write it out over several months, spend maybe a few hundred dollars, and many hundreds of hours creating your short film. You publish it free of charge to the public for their viewing enjoyment. Only then you discover someone else charging for the story you wrote and produced. How would you feel? Perhaps then you would realize that it can feel like a really big deal to not get the credit due you.
