Questions about HTML
http://carlayala.webs.com/150animesongslist.htm * I can't customize the wrapper I put in, can you tell me why? I'd like to have four backgrounds to that one as I do this group. Also when there is H2 on the right side which was originally titled "Mio", but it would not work in IE7. Is this a bug in IE7? I thought you could make up any name for a section, like Veoh does for Veohpage etc
Reply to this TopicAlso, is there a way to stream a sound file (small) by hovering over a link on a page like this one I'm making? Like with Javascript maybe? If there is such a site and you've seen it, I'd like to know it so I can possibly use it.
What kind of sound file? Although audio tag exists in HTML5,it is supported only by latest browser like FF3.5. And this specification might be changed. I think you had better use object and embed tag using player like flash or windows media player. Of couse listeners have to install plug-in, but almost internet users install it.
WMA is the preferred sound file, because I wanted to make them snippets of the songs listed. I remember on a forum years ago they could have music play automatically when logged on a page, and no player was present or needed to be started. So I figured that maybe I could set the sound file to play on hover, then turn off when no hovered.
If not, I'd like to use a object/embed like you said. I haven't done this yet, but the site can host the music files for me. I will go research it, and post back unless you can tell me first. I want to have a music setup similar to iMeem.com. And thanks for the fast reply!
IE can play a wav file without plug-in,but WMA file is not possible without plug-in. And other browsers cannot do it too. It is necessary plug-in for WMP or Realplayer to listen a WMA file. Probabry WMP can be controled by script.
If you don't want to show the player. set the style visibility: hidden; to object/embed. When the mouse pointer is hovered on the music title, set the URL of the sound file to src attribute of the player. When the mouse pointer is out, remove the URL.
I'm sorry, I don't understand "When the mouse pointer is hovered on the music title, set the URL of the sound file to src attribute of the player. When the mouse pointer is out, remove the URL". I have set object to hidden. But I cannot get my music player to play on hover of the td. Now I am learning this on this page now: http://carlayala.webs.com/music%20player%20test%20page.htm
I modified your page to play when the mouse pointer is moved onto the title. See this sample. http://chemera.coolpage.biz/test_page.htm
Ok, I've found a way to make it stream in a way with Javacript, and posted a link to it in the next topic for feedback. I'm not sure how it works on other computers. Can you tell me how to improve or things I should keep in mind about the code I used, Chemera?
