Most overrated anime songs?!
Some overrated songs are good but just not the "Nirvana" of anime songs. The opening to Evangelion is to me WAY overrated, though its still a good song, but its not #1 like all magazines say, and the video has been topped by Elfen Lied in terms of "artsyness" (though it was definitely breakthrough). God Knows from TmoHS, and Real Folk Blues from CB, are great too but imo there are songs that do what they do, and better, as standalone songs. Often times scenes gets attached to the song and over hype it but that is fine as long as we don't say its the "best" since that is unfair and disproportionate to all anime songs. Finally, a lot of songs are overrated since the anime is popular, and I got to say the second opening to Naruto Shipuden is the worst anime song I've heard and I think if people heard it outside Naruto they'd hate it as much as I do. But that's just me.
Reply to this TopicI agree with alot of what you've said. To me the popularity of the Anime is the main source of its opening credit song being over rated. I happen to a fan of Lucky Star (I own all the DVD's that have been released so far). But, there are people I know who LOVE its opening song to the point they've tried learning the lyrics. They've even gone so far as to learn the dance, much like people have learned TMOHS's ending credit song's dance. (Not trying to say that people who learn the lyric's or dance are crazy or any thing! >.>)
HOWEVER! Some people may actually like the song... So judging it as over rated and tossing it aside is kinda rude. It really all has to do with what genre of music you like. You mentioned Elfen Leid's opening song. I happen to DISLIKE IT EMENSLY! So if I were to pop into a conversation with a group of people discussing how much they like it, I'd be out of the loop. I could call it over rated as much as I wanted, but the people who like it could just come right back and call me a douche. So I suppose my main point is that it all comes down to a matter of opinion.

i kinda that dear you song is kinda overrated granted it's good considering that all the female characters from higurashi sing their own version of it but something about just makes turn away after hearing about a minute of it

I like elfin lied and dear you becuase for a change their not some cutsey j-pop tecno crap. i like god knows too but it is a bit overrated
