OMFG can you stop argue-ing about the 'best' anime, It's all opinion. First of all subs or dubs, you still get the story either way. Then the fight over Bleach and Naruto, again oppinion, I watch bleach but not naruto myself, This is not because I dont like naruto, its just I watched 100 eps of bleach back when I could be bothered to watch anime non-stop for 5 days, now I cant be bothered and I find naruto, so yer, + none of this stuff comes to Australian tv, so it is all downloading

0.0 What kind of show is this? Personally I think these people put anime to shame. They make us, anime watchers, look like freaks! Also, regarding the Sub vs Dub thing. I like my anime subbed because it seems more realistic, but I don't mind some anime dubbed and they are: Samarai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Devil May Cry, and Trinity Blood. Note that I'm not only voicing my opinion! I'm not going to join this argument! =]

I dont fu ckin care about the Subbs, as long as i can understand of what they're talkin about...I was watching Girls Bravo[Dubbed] and compared it with the no Dubb. i would also prefer the subbed but english dubb isnt all that bad.. if you dont like english dubb then dont watch it. soem animes i would preffer to watch the english dubb because it sounds better. if you dont like it in english get over it. nobody honestly cares about your problems and nobody is going to base the world on what you like so go watch you subbed anime and get a life

Well people keep saying that they like dubbed verisons of anime prob cause it's in your MOTHER language in which of course its easier to understand. I only like some dubbs for they have less to nearly nothing cut out, plus THEY HAVE GOOD VOICE ACTORS. In anime I think it's important to have GOOD voice actors cause they make the show! THEY SPEAK FOR THE CHARACTERS.... I would think that that's very important. What I think is most disrepectful is when english dubs try to 'americanize' things :0 If it's a japanese cartoon keep it that way. Plus I hate the fact that they cut a lot of stuff out to air it on little kids channels. To me, I believe that anime is aimed at a older audience, 11- older people ... lol

Apparently not many people agree with me on this but i personally like the dubbed versions, i have watched several episodes of shows that are subbed but Japanese voice tones sound so shill and it distracts me from the show plus i dont care to read when im watching tv. Not all dubs are poor, but the majority of them are done in a way that makes the characters sound fake or corny and can generally cheapen the overall feel of an anime, making it seem more like a cartoon aimed at children. the complainers are the more hardcore fans. i got into anime at the age of about 11 through voice dubs, it was only once i REALLY got into it that i gave subs a chance. now i wont touch the dubs, i think they're awful, but a necessary evil for all those new to anime. u may find you change your mind some day as well.

Well it probably cause the voices are not quite as good as the japanese versions cause i think less time is spent on finding a voice actor or giving them more takes to do it better. Also if the dubbed version is put on t.v. it is often cut and torn up because its to graphic for children because a lot of american stations believe cartoons are for children only cause their idiots. Example: toonami airs on cartoon network sometime during the weekends and i had not seen it for almost a year on t.v.(cause i stream it online in japanese) and they had naruto on and had edited quite a bit of the wording that would be considered to preverse by the t.v. station and had cut some violent scenes and like naruto sexy jutsu is now wearing close, not a big deal but its just a more obvious change in the dubb. Oh yeah and tsunades breasts were shrunk again doesn't matter but they start cutting whole scenes and stuff and its annoying. Japanese versions of anime are generaly better than their english brothern dubs.

I like the dubs too, it's a lot easier to focus on the actual show that way. But it's kinda hard to find them unless they've aired on toonami or something. I bet they sound cheesy cause the japanese wrote it that way. They're always really dramatic and a little too analytical about self worth and whatnot. For ex: Gundam wing- 30% fighting, 70% jibberish about peace and whatnot

Yeah it is way easier to focus on the show, but Ive watched anime subbed versions so long, that its really easy to watch the sub titles and the show and not miss a thing. I persoally like the subbed version, only because it has more passion in the character and the voice fits better. The only shos I have liked dubbed are Inuyasha, Full metal Panic and some others.

people from other countries tend to like subbed better. People who are interested in Japan or learning Japanese (or something like that) = subs. You kind of have to get over the fact that Japanese is a foreign language to actually enjoy it. (English is my second language, so I guess I've got experience :P)

ok i have 2 disagree with some of your choices. Trigun may be sort os tedious and repetitive at times but it's funny sometimes to. It's something for a beginner who's just getting into anime to watch. Blood + is for those who like violence with a lot of killing and blood. Sometimes you just want to see something die. And FullMetal Alchemist is really deep. You have to get really into it and find some background info like in Anime Insider to completely understand what'[s going on in the story and the minds of the characters. This may seem like a lot of work but alot of people dedicated to the show are willing to go to those lengths. Other than these few things the rest of your list is goos. Especcially the transformers thing. It's kinda trying to pass itself as anime because it came out around the same time as sailor moon and card captors. It's not really anime. Only an anime novice would think that it's actually an anime.

and one piece is not mature in the least. they've tried to make it seem more serious in the later seasons but it's really a poor attempt because now the show is less entertaining. i like the old one piece when luffy always got his head stuck in something. and since the show got serious chopper has become a laughingstck. he's so whiny and helpless. the old chopper kicked ass and took names. now all he does is cry and hide out on the ship.

i really like both - one piece and FMA. one piece is really crazy and funny and there is lot of cool action but mature? not really sure about that. i think fullmetal alchemist is really great because of the storyline and the drawing which is extra great. very important for FMA: manga and anime don't have the same storyline!! and the manga is pretty much better than the anime!!! FMA has the best story i've ever read of all manga/anime i read/watched. bleach has some cool action but the story is extremly dumbass poor

There's really no such thing as shows or movies, after being released and fully aired, being overrated. There is obviously gatherings because it hit the target audience dead-on and got support. One must also take into account when people see things in their career of anime. Some stuff is just awesome for hooking you into the industry and when looking back on it you realize it isn't so hot, but you still love it anyways. I've clocked about 60 days worth of anime now and I've seen everything on this list but that 2x2 thing. I have to say they all have their personal merits. I'm a personal FF fan and have been playing since the original on the NES mind you it came out the year before I was born. (released '87 to save you time for checking). Advent Children rocked for huge FF7 fans like myself.

i don't think that this ongoing war of 'subs vs dubs' is at all neccessay. plus, saying that people are emo just because they like dubs or subs is completely ridiculous. it depends on the person to what they choose, and it isn't up to other people to bitch and gripe about it. i honestly think that people who have a problem with other's preference have too much time on their hands and should go on and watch their OWN favourite kind of anime, not bitching about other's. dubs are what sparked popularity among anime in the western world in the first place. both dubs and subs are good, there are people who like both, and if you were a true anime fan you would accept that, and other anime lover's opinions.

If ya'll are 'outsiders'--referring to people that don't know much English and are not in the US--you are alright. Martinhca: I couldn't have said it better myself. I can't rely on subs because I can't read small print in long periods of time. That's why I like dubs better. But I do see where they're coming from. My friend--who started me in anime--like subs better but not all the time. She has a few that she like in English, like Tatics and Fruits Basket.

Chii they have alredy developed a flying car that works quite well but they havnt put into mass producton yet due to complications. and those perscon things if there anything like wat i think they are (as i havnt seen that anime yet) than that would be a bad idea as sum1 will just hack the system that there connected to and screw everything up. and the only machines that could ever prevent the ozone from decaying is us. that is of course if the ozone can be repaired than that would be better. or if it eventualy erodes too uch they would probably create a device that encloses earth and atcs like an artificail ozone but then that whole hacking thing comes into play again.

The Ozone can repair it's self, i saw a doco where it was showing a timeline of what would happen if all humans just disappeared. It said that if aliens landed here 200,000 years from when we disappeared they would have a hard time proving we were her at all...... well thats if we don't destroy ourselves with weapons more powerful than nukes lol. oh and you have to remember that 200,000 years is nothing to the planet.

well, you say bleach is bad although you still watch naruto which to be fair is just plain boring now, its turned into ninja dragon ball z and thats basically it, naruto was good in the beginning but the storyline takes way to long to go anywhere. Bleach has a faster storyline that naruto which makes it more interesting. in my opinion although i dont have either in my top animes.

With the technology availible to us now, it's actually possible (with enough funding) to build any of the things you just listed. Building a persecon would only be a matter of attaching high-quality sensors to the eyes (similar to how a more recent model car might have sensors on the rear bumper that beep if you begin to back into something), and sound sensors which would work basically the same way a cell-phone with a voice-response feature does, or a lamp which turns on when you clap your hands. The sight and sound sensors(parhaps touch-sensitive skin add-ons as well) would allow you to teach the persecon how to preform basic tasks first, through your given visual or verbal signals. Those basic tasks could then be linked to make it learn more complex actions, like how a child learns how to speak single words before whole sentances. After that, the movement is just hydraulics and wiring.

I dunno... I think Naruto would have been a good show if, instead of dragging it through fillers and Shippuden, Naruto dies in the hospital in ep135 and the series ends there. Sasuke walks away for good, Sakura is crushed with sadness, and Kakashi stands overlooking the Valley of the End, contemplating the tragedy. No shitty fillers, no dragged out Akatsuki bullshit (since Itachi and Kisame would only make their brief initial appearance, leaving them in their awesome prime and motivating Sasuke to fight/kill Naruto.) and no random plot twists about "ZOMG KABUTO IS OROCHI? PAIN IS JIRAIYA'S STUDENT OH WAIT NO HE ISN'T AND SOMETHING ABOUT SWORDZ?!"

FullMetal Alchemist: great, it had a bit of everything, action, good plot, nice historyline, interesting turnarounds, badass characters, healthy amounts of drama, good soundtrack, you can't ask for nothing more! Evangelion: i'm not in to mecha, but evangelion is my exception, very, very good, turnarounds, drama, fighting action, nice history line, interesting plot, ecchi, ecchi, ecchi, anything else??? nevertheless the last 3 episodes of the anime were trash, but you can make that out watching the movie End of Evangelion Elfen Lied: ecchi and gore, a must watch, but don't watch it if you're a faggot School Days: ecchi, ecchi and a gory ending, the same as Elfen Lied, don't watch it if you're a sentimental homo Ranma 1/2: ecchi, good for comedy's sake only Haruhi Suzumiya: a little ecchi, good for comedy's sake only, practically the same as Ranma 1/2 Chobits: another ecchi, barely good for comedy's sake(and they say comedy's the lowest level of entertainment) to be honest Chobits bored me

InuYasha: great anime great moments, but they spent like 80 eps fighting useless lesser monsters that nobody cares about and like 20 eps more going to Kagome's time, watching her going to school and "WcDonalds" was really boring Naruto: great anime great moments, but 150 filler eps in a row? that was unbereable, and the shippuuden's plot takes forever to progress only a little, i mean on the last special Sasuke and Naruto spent like 20 mins looking each other faces and 20 mins flashbacks/recaps, it's becoming so boring Bleach: great anime great moments, but an entire filler arc? just as Naruto they seem to be dragging everything out, fillers with freaking Kanonji and stupid Kon out of the blue and on one filler they even play football, wtf? and they just can't get enough recaps and flashbacks, besides they got the DBZ syndrom: no matter how weak the enemy is they just have to spend at least 3 episodes to defeat him/her

Death Note: the best shit the anime have ever made, if you cannot comprehend that is becuz ur IQ is too low or u haven't reach puberty yet, the only anime that has thrilled me from start to end Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: lots of fanservice, bunch of mecha fights, a fight against the moon, a multi-purpose drill and a semi-interesting plot, nothing extraordinary, in fact it's an average anime, by no means as good as evangelion, not even on the top 10 Samurai Champloo: one of the best animes out there, it had everything, good plot, lots of blood, swordmen fights, even some romance and a sexy/blind killer chick, what else do you want?

Dragon Ball: DB was for 8 years old kids, DBGT was plainly trash, DBZ, well! anything new and interesting ended with Freezer's Saga(Goku's true origins, Saiyans, traveling through space and the biggest bomb in anime history until then, the legendary Super Saiyan) the next was totally boring, plotless and predictable: nobody could defeat enemies but Goku, everybody was revived by DB, enemies were stronger but Goku became SS1, SS2, SS3, SS100 etc... it became a complete shame for anime Saint Seiya "aka" Knights of the Zodiac: americans don't seem to know it (cuz you got the censored version), but it was superpopular in Latin Europe and South America, basically it's DBZ with a slightly more interesting plot and a deeper storyline, but has the same flaws: the only character who can defeat enemies is Seiya, enemies are stronger and beat the hell out of him, but in the end he get's a super/ultra/mega/giga attack and defeats them

I have never seen so much anger and hate on one page before. Can't we all just agree on the fact that we like anime in general? usually that's just the FCC messing with your show.usually when you buy the DVD, there won't be anything edited out. I learned this the hard way when I bought Cowboy Bebop. It was pretty hard to cover my niece and nephew's eyes, when they saw an animated guy with breasts on the TV screen.

You seem to hate cosplay. Is it so wrong to have people cosplay? I have found some really well cosplayers out there that have taken some time to make the outfits work and look beautiful. Now I do understand that there are those out there that wish their boring life was an anime and they need help. But for once or twice a year whenever theres a convention in someones town or nearby you dress up shouldn't be so bad. Hell, we've been doing it yearly for Halloween so how is this any different. I think that Naruto is one of those shows that doesn't get to the damn point quick enough, also, i can put up with a whiney and useless main character (think renton for E7) as long as they have redeeming qualitys (like being able to unleash an apocalyptic explosion of energy) in the end i never really gave a flying fuck that naruto has some fox demon in him, he didnt use it often enough, and when he did, it wasnt all that spectacular. oh and his jumpsuit is gay.

I must strongly disagree with you. 'Anime' is actually a word used exclusively to describe animation material from Japan. American Animation like 'Avatar:The Last Airbender' is what is usually called 'pseudo-anime.' The reason why subbed material is better than dubbed (in the majority of cases) is the same reason 'cultured' people that are not originally English speakers will choose to watch a Hollywood movie in the original language (e.g. English) with their own native language's subtitles. In other words, when something is dubbed, something else will get lost in translation - a particular expression that is unique to that language, a peculiar voice intonation or emotional and powerful verbal sounds that can not be translated to other languages. That's why subs is the best thing they ever invented. The other interesting thing is that if you are interested, you can actually learn the language (although you should buy a Japanese book first).

Yeah I peronally hate dubbs and the way people come into conventions and tape other cosplayers. I mean if you're caught on camera and don't want to be I'm pretty sure it's illegal somewhere down the road when someone does not want to be seen on TV. I'll sue anyone who's producting these if I see myself anywhere on English TV trying to make Anime cool. Dubs are terrible because when the Anime comes out in DVD no one will buy them and just watch subs. Why would they buy real English dubbed DVDs when the job is done horribly? You answer me. But I wouldn't waste my money on a half assed done job on an anime I really liked voiced in Japanese. Plus you could always catch a few words here and there from the Japanese langugae watching the subtitles and not English dubbed crap you see on tv.

Okay so I have one question... If you dont like dubs then why watch them? Seriously dont go and watch a dub just to rag on it. I mean if you like to watch subs then go ahead nobody is gunna stop you... Personally though I perfer to actually see the picture and whats going on instead of trying to read words that go by to quickly (dont get me wrong though I do sometimes watch the subs AFTER I see the dub... just so I can hear it in a voice thats sounds better and I would know whats happening)

I'm sick of alot of people acting so stuck up about dubs. Okay, so we all know the subs are better but look at who's bringing this show: Bang Zoom Entertainment. Its a DUB company so that's what you all are gonna get. If ya don't like, don't watch. Also, dubs are what introduced most anime fans to anime and most of us probably started out with dubs so if it weren't for dubs, we wouldn't be able to watch the great subs out there. We wouldn't even know about anime. Until the day when subs are available on network tv and the anime fans of the future get into anime in that way, we will all have been a dub fan at some point. IMHO, the dubs are getting really good these days. And I've been around from the Sailor Moon and DBZ days so I know exactly what I'm talking about. As a side note I know its probably just me and that's fine, but when I really love an anime, I love to watch both the subs and the dubs ^_^

It's sad how this conversation degenerated into a debate between subs and dubs... while I agree that it's a shame this show only covers dubbed anime, and doesn't provide much information because the shows are already known by the time they talk about it, it is nice for those of us who simple take anime wherever they can get it from (don't get me wrong - I often prefer something in its original language, for flow and consistency... but if it's just plain easier for me to catch it on tv, I will). I like talking to my friends/ fellow fans about what I've watched, and this is just another source of opinions. ...I also like seeing what the list of "top 5" in the particular categories are (even though I usually don't agree with the ranking :P), and seeing interviews with actors whose voices I'm familiar with is a treat too ^_^

i love this show lol! It really helps me out with my anime choosing! I found out some great Anime's i fell in love with! You should do Prism Ark! Though it is only in Japanese it is very entertaing and great! It is love and romance but has a great storyline and action! But Bleach and Naruto is my Favorite Animes outa of anything!

I think Naruto's a pretty good anime. I haven't really watched Bleach yet, but from what I've seen it is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Prism Ark at all, though... It started off extremely good, but it ended so terribly. It didn't go anywhere... But the first episode was awesome anyway.

Gotta realize that most ppl watch anime in english dub. That's how the american distributors make their money. Subs are cool, but I'll only buy it if it has an English version. Why? Dubs are not bad. They exist for those who don't know Japanease or the original language. Sadly, much is lost in translation and sensoring. I like dubs but I would rather here the original jokes and meanings that are lost. As such I am trying to learn Japanease. Sadly, I'm not very good at all. :(

I actually kind of like the dubs better xD Cause, otherwise I end up just reading the whole time, and missing all the action x.X; However, I am starting to watch Japanese ones more often, cause theres not many that have dubs, and some dubs really suck so I just watch it in Japanese anyways! 8D

lol 1hr i pefer sub over dub cuz dubs cuz they dont have that good of a voice and the sensor so much they even call drunken fist fighting style to loopy fists, but cowboy beepbop has a good dub cuz they dont sensor it

Hah, actually, the only reason why they changed Lee's Drunken Fist to Loopy Fist is because they probably knew that all the headband-toting Narutards nationwide (with less brain mass than a can of peanuts between them all) would try and DRINK whatever alcohol their parents have hidden away, and actually think that they'll instantly gain the martial arts skill of Jackie Chan. In this case, I forgive 4kids for screwing around with the series.
