Parkour is a highly physical training discipline, which involves mastering the combined skills of running, jumping, climbing, and balancing. The word “parkour” is derived from the French term for a course, or a route. The goal is to achieve through rigorous training, the fastest, most fluid, and most efficient way of moving , overcoming smoothly any obstacles or restriction in their path, over any type of terrain. The parkour action we see today is due to a particular way of training that was developed in France by the pioneers of the sport. Innovative, explosive, graceful, and dynamic, parkour is a spectacular activity to witness. More than just a form of physical expression, the central concept of finding a path through any terrain and over any obstacle, mirrors a deeper concept of navigating the many obstacles in life, while learning to do so with confidence and a profound sense of self-discipline.
